David Spencer has practiced law since 1986. He practices in the areas of business, corporate, international and real estate law. He is Spanish-English bilingual. After 16 years with a large West coast law firm, in 2002 he left his partnership with that firm and started his own practice. His experience includes advising start-up and mature companies in structural and governance matters, purchase and sales of assets and businesses, shareholder arrangements, distribution and agency, intellectual property protection, electronic commerce and joint ventures. He also has significant experience in secured financing, commercial real estate, international business transactions, multinational employment policies, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the North American Free Trade Agreement. He has handled matters for clients involving most of the countries of Latin America. His clients are located throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Professional Activities
Founder and past-President, Northwest Chapter, US-Mexico Chamber of Commerce; past chair, Washington State Bar Association International Practice Section; member, Business Law, Real Property, Probate and Trust, and International Law Sections of the American and Washington State and King County Bar Associations.

David is a frequent speaker on business matters affecting businesses, including doing business in Mexico and elsewhere in Latin America, international employment practices, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Background
Former legislative assistant in the U.S. Senate, Washington, D.C., 1979-82, responsible for legislation governing energy, the environment, international trade and agriculture.
