Welcome to the Northwest Chapter’s page on investing in Mexico. Our aim with this page is to provide substantive information of you can use, whether you are considering a concrete investment plan or simply seeking detailed information.

We begin with some overview documents. For those of you looking for very general information about Mexico, one place to start is the World Factbook of the Central Intelligence Agency. If a private sector report providing macroeconomic data of various kinds is more to your liking, you may want to check out Global Finance’s current report on Mexico, available at DATA ON GDP AND ECONOMIC INFORMATION
Moving to the nitty-gritty of investing in Mexico, one of the best current documents is the Doing Business 2011 report on Mexico of the International Finance Corporation, the arm of the Word Bank that focuses on the private sector. This 75-page report measures country regulations affecting nine (9) stages of business life: |
Starting a business, dealing with construction permits, registering property, getting credit, protecting investors, paying taxes, trading across borders, enforcing contracts, and closing a business. The report ranks Mexico 35th out of 183 world economies.
